DP Karts Shine At C & D Titles in Morwell

Aron Lawrence made one of the best starts seen in a long time coming around the outside to come from 6th on the grid to second by the first corner. Aron battled hard all race finishing a very close second.

It was a 1,2,3 in the Rookie Class for DP Karts with Lachlan Naismith winning followed by Jordan Holowell and Luke Guillou. Luke dedicated his performance to his Nanna who passed away only a week earlier. Lachlan dominated the weekend from Friday through to Sunday setting fastest times in all of the sessions and races. It was good to see Jordan and luke back in form, Jordan was very consistant all weekend putting in very fast laptimes and with help from his brother Tim showed very good racecraft. Jarrod Dwyer was very unlucky in the final with his kill switch wire shorting out cutting his engine while he was on a charge to the front.

Michael Smith continued his great form of late by finishing 4th in the Midget class, Michael drove well all weekend and was unlucky not to be higher on the podium. Matty Iredale impressed everyone in the midget class with some great driving in only his first open meeting off P plates. Matty was unfortunatly taken out by another competitor while in 3rd place in the final with only a few laps to go. Matty is sure to be up on alot of podiums in the future and one to watch.

Rod Capuano was on fire all weekend running 3 classes testing out his fitness being such an old fella. His first final was Clubman Heavy and he was looking like he was going to take it out but had to settle for a very competitive second. Restricted 125 Heavy was Rod's next class but a broken exhaust was to end his final with only 4 laps completed. So it came down to Clubman over 40's for Rod to try and take his first win. Rod got a fantastic start but was overtaken for the lead by Bruce Mclean and settled in behind for most of the race. With only 2 corners to go Rod made his move and went to the lead winning his first C grade title after 5 years of trying. Rod was very impressed with the DP Karts S engine and said he had plenty of power to get the job done.
